MASSAGE for runners

Massage is effective in treating the muscle tightness that can
develop from static positions (posture) at work or through
exercise. This tightness restricts efficient movement which can
impair performance and increase the risk of injury.

Massage is able to release trigger points, reduce connective
tissue tightness and improve the removal of waste products from
the muscle which other techniques such as stretching can not do
effectively.

As part of a complete training program massage is used both as
treatment and prevention. The frequency of treatments may vary
based on how intense your training is (high mileage, high
intensity) or the types of session (track work or weights).

Some athletes will prefer massage every week during heavy
training periods but at lighter times monthly may be enough.
