Feet are complex structures made up of bones, joints, ligaments, muscles, tendons, nerves, blood vessels, and skin. They are prone to aches and pains and a variety of problems and conditions. These can include corns and calluses, bunions, papillomas and ingrown toenails. Most foot problems are easy to avoid and simple to treat but it is important to visit a specialist if you suffer from chronic or recurrent foot pain and/or dysfunction. No one is safe from foot problems however older and overweight people, diabetics, athletes and dancers who place more demand on their feet are more likely to develop foot disorders. People with diabetes must check their feet regularly as they are more likely to develop serious foot problems. How your feet feel can be a sign of your general health. If they hurt, they may be indicating a more serious condition so it is essential to be alert to the warning signs. Foot problems or pain can be an early sign of medical problems such as arthritis, diabetes, nerve and circulatory disorders and other conditions. It is especially important for diabetics to have a daily foot care routine. Why a Podiatrist?
